The Library Tower
Winterfell keeps its books in a tower of their own. Stone steps wind around the outside of it, and the wind finds anyone who climbs them in winter. Inside, the shelves hold more than a hundred volumes.
Some of what it keeps is rare. There is a complete copy of Ayrmidon’s Engines of War, which few libraries in the Seven Kingdoms can match. The maester of Winterfell divides his days between these shelves, the rookery and the lord’s side.
